Black Squirrels Stymie Houston, Take 4-1 Win
|
With right fielder Cole Capone leading the charge, the Tree City Black Squirrels defeated the Houston Sting, 4-1, at The Nut House. Capone, who is tied for 5th in the DML in extra base hits with 20, was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. Bob Galloway recorded his 1st save for Tree City. The last-place Black Squirrels raised their record to 25-28.
The Black Squirrels got a big at-bat from first baseman Jay Liburdi. For the game, Liburdi was 2 for 2 with 2 singles and 2 walks. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 54th hit of the season gave Tree City a 2-1 lead.
"We did a lot of things right," said Capone.
