River Chiefs Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
|
Chippewa catcher Juan Martínez was a significant contributor in his team's 6-4 triumph over the Brisbane Bush Wackers. He went 3-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for Chippewa. The win was Mark Luoto's in relief. His record improves to 3-5. Jose Laracuente took the loss for Brisbane. Chippewa is now 32-17, 3˝ games up in the Lyman Bostock League Dick Williams Division.
Martínez had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 2-2 sinker from Jose Laracuente, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the River Chiefs a 6-4 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Martínez.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Martínez told the Chippewa Citizen.
