Emeralds Topple Vikings with Late Rally
|
The Eugene Emeralds bested the Victoria Vikings, 5-4, at Prefontaine Park. Curt Mayle was named player of the game. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Eugene reliever Tatsuji Kudo picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-1. Jorge Ortega was collared with the loss. The Emeralds are now 25-26, while the Vikings fall to 17-33.
Jose Macias was the walk-off hero for Eugene. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Emeralds shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.
"It was a good effort all around," said Macias.
