The Tree City Black Squirrels had to overcome a big game from Kingwood catcher Sabino Acosta to leave The Nut House with a 7-5 victory. Acosta went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Tree City reliever Chris Long picked up the win to move to 3-3. Dylan Thompkins suffered the loss. Tree City occupies last place in the Donnie Moore League Tommy Lasorda Division at 23-27.
Ramon Abreu, who is tied for 6th in the DML in total bases with 89, chipped in for Tree City with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the tenth. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
Abreu told a Tree City Herald reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
