Despite a great performance by Tree City center fielder Danny Lowe, the Charleston Panthers defeated the Black Squirrels by the score of 6-4 at Franklin Mountains Field. Lowe was 2-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Charleston reliever Tim Gresham picked up the win to move to 7-0. Joel Applegate suffered the loss. Ronnie Kimble closed it out for his 9th save.

Hung-k'uei Hsiao aided the Charleston cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the third. For the game, the third baseman went 1-4. He drove in 2 runs.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Hsiao, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."

The Panthers saw their win-loss record go to 19-28. At the same time, the Black Squirrels fell to 22-27.
