Gai Slugs Bombers to 6-4 Win
|
The South Carolina Bombers defeated the Cabo San Lucas Toreros, 6-4, at Field de Los Layendas. South Carolina designated hitter Zhao-ying Gai was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Ed Armstrong picked up the save for South Carolina, his 17th of the year. At 31-22, the Bombers are currently second in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.
Jean-Claude Petit, who is a six-time All-Star, aided the South Carolina cause with a 2-run double in the top of the eighth. For the game, the third baseman was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Gai said.
