Atlantic City starter Danny Medina pitched effectively against the St. Petersburg Pelicans at The Royal Colosseum. The right-hander led his team to a 4-1 win. Tom Greer earned the save for Atlantic City, his 11th of the year. The Kings saw their win-loss record go to 21-22. At the same time, the Pelicans fell to 18-28.
A critical at-bat came in the bottom of the seventh inning when the Kings sent 22-year-old pinch hitter Juan Hernández to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and drew a walk, driving in 1 run, to put Atlantic City on top, 3-1.
"Danny was throwing strikes, locating well," said Atlantic City manager Wynn Decker.
