Panthers Bang Out 7-5 Win Versus Coney Island
|
The Charleston Panthers defeated the Coney Island Cyclones, 7-5, at Coney Island Coliseum. Charleston designated hitter Tatsuhiko Torii was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Ronnie Kimble, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 7th save. At 16-23, the Panthers are currently last in the Lyman Bostock League Dick Williams Division.
Torii contributed a big hit, a bases-clearing double, for Charleston in the top of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Torii took a fastball from Steve Rogers Jr. and stroked the double to right. His 3rd double of the season allowed the Panthers to leap in front, 3-1.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Torii.
