West Virginia starter Jason Beaton had a strong outing against the St. Petersburg Pelicans at Penlee Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-2 win. The Dancin' Outlaws improved to 14-23.

The Dancin' Outlaws got a big at-bat from first baseman Marcos Rodríguez. For the game, Rodríguez was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave West Virginia a 3-1 lead.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Rodríguez told reporters after the game.
