Sting Turn Back Eugene, 5-3
|
The Houston Sting knocked off the Eugene Emeralds, 5-3, at Prefontaine Park. Matt Davidson, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Houston won. The right fielder was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Jeff Van Wormer closed it out for his 9th save. Houston has now won 4 straight.
Davidson had a key at-bat for Houston early in the game. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and gave Houston an early 2-0 lead.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Houston manager Héctor Flores.
