Victory Pushes Cyclones Record to 21-12
|
The Chippewa River Chiefs got a sterling performance from pitcher José López, but the Cyclones still prevailed, 3-2. López was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball. Takamasa Oki closed it out for his 11th save. Coney Island has now won 7 straight.
The Cyclones got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Taylor Allen. For the game, Allen was 1-1 with a home run. In the top of the ninth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Coney Island a 3-2 lead.
"This team is real focused right now," said Coney Island manager Roger Fievet.
