Jedi Knights Win in Extras
|
The New Orleans Jedi Knights defeated the West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws, 4-3, at The Republic. New Orleans shortstop Heishichi Tanabe was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 3-6 with a home run and 2 singles. The winner was New Orleans reliever Pete Murphy, now 3-1. The loser was Pedro Morales. West Virginia, at 8-21, is off to a poor start in 2034.
Tanabe had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the 11th. On a 0-2 fastball from Pedro Morales, he banged a solo home run to left-center, giving the Jedi Knights a 4-3 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Tanabe.
West Virginia manager Keith Irwin said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
