Mustangs Sneak Past Pelicans, 3-2

San Angelo and St. Petersburg duked it out at Heartland Kettlecorn Stadium and the Mustangs came out victorious.
The San Angelo Mustangs defeated the St. Petersburg Pelicans, 3-2, in Lyman Bostock League action at Heartland Kettlecorn Stadium, with San Angelo pitcher Dan Garcia named player of the game. The Mustangs, now 20-10, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Had Victor Portillo not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Portillo hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Mustangs.
Afterward, Mustangs manager Clyde Bowman was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
