The Chippewa River Chiefs grabbed a 6-5 win over the Tree City Black Squirrels at The Reservation. Chippewa designated hitter Tommy Williams was 2-6 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once to earn player of the game honors. Chippewa reliever Marlin Bryan was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Bob Galloway took the loss. Chippewa goes to 20-9 with the win.

Williams had a game-changing single in the bottom of the 13th. On a 1-1 fastball from Bob Galloway, he banged a 2-run single to left, giving the River Chiefs a 6-5 lead. It was the 9th hit of the year for Williams.

"Enjoyed this one," Williams told the Chippewa Citizen. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
