Mustangs Raise Rally Flag, Beat St. Petersburg, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring clash between San Angelo and St. Petersburg, pitcher Alex Acevedo was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for San Angelo in the 3-2 win. Jim Padjen, credited with the win, is now 3-0. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. Sam Thomas closed the game out for San Angelo, earning his 3rd save.
Seito Yokoyama drew 2 walks in 4 plate appearances for San Angelo. The 22-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Kelly Livingston. It was his 16th walk of the season.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Acevedo said.
The Pelicans drop to 10-19 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2034 season.
