The St. Petersburg Pelicans topped the Kingwood Knights, 7-3, in Donnie Moore League action at Billy Mathews Field. The player of the game was St. Petersburg pitcher Eduardo Alaniz. St. Petersburg is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 10th win in 28 games.

With no one out in the bottom of the fifth, Cristián Vásquez stroked a go-ahead run-scoring single. It was his 1st hit of the season and put St. Petersburg in front, 1-0.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Alaniz.
