Knights Win at St. Petersburg, 3-2
|
Kingwood Knights starter Ruben Luna turned in a top-notch performance against the St. Petersburg Pelicans at Billy Mathews Field. The result was a win for the Knights, 3-2. Luna went 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 6, and struck out 6. His record improves to 3-1. Earning his 8th save for Kingwood was Toshio Kawabata.
Mike Carney, who is tied for 5th in the LBL with a 1.115 OPS, aided the Kingwood cause with a 2-run home run in the top of the second. For the game, the right fielder was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said St. Petersburg skipper Kurt Brumfield.
The Pelicans fall to 9-18 and continue to sputter in the early going.
