Warriors Win at Houston, 7-1
|
The Winfield Warriors defeated the Houston Sting, 7-1, in Lyman Bostock League action at Woodland Park, with Winfield pitcher Jesús Gallegos named player of the game. Gallegos went 8.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. His record improves to 2-2. Winfield, now 10-17, is off to a slow start.
Phil Dick, who is tied for 8th in the LBL in triples with 1, aided the Winfield cause with a 2-run home run in the top of the third. For the game, the first baseman went 2 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3.
"Enjoyed this one," Gallegos told the Winfield Observer. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
