The Taos Blizzard and Nichols Gnats completed their game despite the inclement weather.
The Taos Blizzard turned back the Nichols Gnats, 7-6, at The Igloo. Lorenzo Pena was named player of the game for his fine performance. He was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Tommy Pucher earned the win to go to 3-2. He allowed 3 earned runs on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts.
Pena contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Taos in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 3-1, Pena took a changeup from Diego Gomez and stroked the home run to left-center. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Blizzard to leap in front, 5-3.
"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Noriyori Shirai.
The Gnats fall to 9-14 and continue to sputter in the early going.
