Warriors Continue Skid Thanks to Gaffaney, Cyclones
|
The 2034 season is getting ugly for Winfield.
Coney Island right fielder Bill Gaffaney was instrumental in his team's 12-5 win over the Winfield Warriors. Gaffaney, who is tied for 4th in the LBL in bases on balls with 16, went 2-4 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Cyclones. Ken Pierce picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-0. He struck out 3 in 5 innings. Andreas Vos was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
With Coney Island leading 2-1 in the bottom of the second, Gaffaney hit a slider from Derek Rolf for a 3-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Cyclones ahead, 5-1.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Gaffaney told the Coney Island Today. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
The Warriors fall to 8-16 and continue their lackluster start in 2034.
