River Chiefs Need Extras to Top Gnats
|
There was never a dull moment in this extra-length game between the Chippewa River Chiefs and the Nichols Gnats.
The Chippewa River Chiefs topped the Nichols Gnats, 2-1, in Lyman Bostock League action at The Pond. The player of the game was Chippewa pitcher Juan Lara. The Gnats fall to 9-13 and continue their lackluster start in 2034.
The River Chiefs got a big at-bat from right fielder Jorge Marín. For the game, Marín went 1-4 with a walk. In the top of the tenth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 15th hit of the season gave Chippewa a 2-1 lead.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Marín told reporters after the game.
