Vikings Continue Skid Thanks to Coyle, Saints
|
Behind a solid performance from left fielder Andy Coyle, the St. Paul Saints defeated the Victoria Vikings, 5-1. Coyle was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Saints. Teagan Cooper got the win, improving to 2-2. He worked 7 innings, giving up 1 run on 7 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. The Vikings fall to 8-15 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2034 season.
The Saints got a big at-bat from right fielder Jorge Santoyo. For the game, Santoyo went 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 20th hit of the season gave St. Paul a 2-1 lead.
Santoyo told a St. Paul Daily News reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
