St. Paul and Winfield duked it out at Saints Ballpark and the Saints came out victorious.
The St. Paul Saints defeated the Winfield Warriors, 5-4. Earning player of the game honors was left fielder Adam Champagne, who was 2 for 2 with a double and a walk, while scoring 3 times. The winner was Blake Connell in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Emilio Peres took the loss. Sadao Matsunaga finished to wrap up his 1st save.
Greg Grace went 2 for 2 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for St. Paul. The 22-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Bobby Collins. It was his 4th RBI of the season.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Grace told reporters after the game.
The Warriors fall to 8-13 and continue their uneven start to the 2034 season.
