Gnats Come Up Short at Charleston
|
Charleston starter Francisco Flores pitched effectively against the Nichols Gnats at Franklin Mountains Field. The right-hander led his team to a 3-2 win. Flores picked up the win for Charleston, going 5.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 2-2. The save went to Ronnie Kimble, his 4th this season.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the third, with Charleston trailing 2-1, Jeff Henson was at the plate when Charleston scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Panthers to go in front, 3-2.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Charleston manager Román Cruz. "Our pregame was pretty good."
The Gnats fall to 5-9 and continue their lackluster start to the 2034 season.
