Victory Over Saints Takes New Orleans to 9-6
|
The New Orleans Jedi Knights bested the St. Paul Saints by a score of 8-6, with left fielder Mark Raffaelli getting the main credit. On the day, Raffaelli was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Jedi Knights. New Orleans reliever Hirotami Asada was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Sadao Matsunaga took the loss. Juan Ayala earned the save, his 6th.
Had David Eitel not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Eitel hit a 2-run double. That made the score 7-5, in favor of the Jedi Knights.
In comments to the New Orleans Daily News, Eitel admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
The Saints fall to 6-9 and continue their lackluster start to the 2034 season.
