Cyclones Slip Past San Angelo, 4-3
|
San Angelo got a terrific performance from pitcher Garth Bankston, but it wasn't enough to beat the Coney Island Cyclones. Coney Island won the Heartland Kettlecorn Stadium contest, 4-3. Bankston was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings allowing 4 runs. Losses have been few and far between for the Mustangs so far this season. Their record drops to 13-3.
It could have been a different outcome for Coney Island, had it not been for Jess Burhoe, the 22-year old shortstop . Burhoe contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Coney Island up, 4-3.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Coney Island skipper Roger Fievet. "I can't complain."
