Cyclones Take Nail-Biter Over Panthers
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Coney Island Cyclones and the Charleston Panthers, Francisco Trevino was the difference-maker. The Coney Island right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 2-1 win. Coney Island reliever Takamasa Oki picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Ronnie Kimble shouldered the loss. The Panthers fall to 6-9 and continue their uneven start to the 2034 season.
Coney Island won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With one out and Ronnie Kimble on the mound for Charleston, pinch hitter Bill Gaffaney hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Cyclones fans to their feet.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Roger Fievet, the Coney Island skipper. "This one tested us."
