Jedi Knights Get Road Win, 5-4
|
The New Orleans Jedi Knights beat the Boise Bloodhounds, 5-4, at Grand Canyon Valley Park. New Orleans shortstop Heishichi Tanabe earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 2-3 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. Jesús Espinosa got the win, improving to 2-0. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 1. Juan Ayala closed the game out for New Orleans, earning his 5th save.
Shinji Kakuta, the 29 overall pick in the 2027 draft, aided the New Orleans cause with a run-scoring ground out in the top of the second. For the game, the third baseman was 1 for 4 with a walk.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Kakuta said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The Bloodhounds, at 3-9, have stumbled out of the gate.
