Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the So Cal Republic home opener. Tanner Johnson started for the home team against Félix Reina for the Portland Beavers. The Republic were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 5-2, Portland. Félix Reina was named player of the game. Olivier Martin recorded the save for Portland, his 1st of the season.

Reina allowed 1 run over 7.1 innings. He also racked up 7 strikeouts.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Portland manager John Harrison. "Our pregame was pretty good."
