Road Warriors Come Back Late to Clip Sting
|
The Westside Road Warriors did just enough to secure a 4-3 victory over the Houston Sting at Road Warriors Field. Nobody did more than left fielder Tony Maciel, who captured player of the game honors. Westside reliever Roger Day was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Jeff Van Wormer took the loss for Houston. Westside, at 9-3, is off to a blistering start.
Ben Templeman was the walk-off hero for Westside. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Road Warriors first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.
Templeman described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
