The Victoria Vikings defeated the Nichols Gnats, 6-3, in Lyman Bostock League action at The Pond, with Victoria pitcher Timmo van Bladel named player of the game. van Bladel went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 12. His record improves to 1-0. Victoria is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 3rd win in 12 games.
Jian Gang Sato aided the Victoria cause with a solo home run in the top of the second. For the game, the second baseman went 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk.
"Enjoyed this one," Sato told the Victoria News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
