Cyclones Sneak Past Lake Monsters, 6-5
|
Okanagan got a terrific performance from second baseman Leo Ceballos, but it wasn't enough to beat the Coney Island Cyclones. Coney Island won the Elks Stadium contest, 6-5. Ceballos was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Coney Island reliever Pedro Herrera was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Dusty Mast took the loss for Okanagan. The Lake Monsters drop to 3-6 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2034 season.
Coney Island used the timely hitting of Taylor Allen to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cyclones on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Allen said.
