Stewart Delivers Clutch At-Bat for Chippewa in Walk-Off Win
|
Charleston catcher Mitsumasa Brothers had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 6-5, to Chippewa at The Reservation. Brothers went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Chippewa reliever Stu Gale picked up the win to move to 1-0. Ronnie Kimble suffered the loss. Chippewa, now 7-2, has gotten their season off to a good start.
The River Chiefs got a big at-bat from catcher Norm Stewart. For the game, Stewart was 2-4 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 runs. In the bottom of the tenth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 6th hit of the season gave Chippewa a 6-5 lead.
"We found a way to get it done," Stewart said.
