Pelicans Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
The St. Petersburg Pelicans beat the West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws, 8-6, at Billy Mathews Field. The Pelicans got a fine performance from center fielder Omar Mora, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. St. Petersburg, now 4-6, is off to a slow start.

Mora had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 3-1 fastball from Pedro Morales, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Pelicans a 6-4 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Mora.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Pelicans manager Kurt Brumfield. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
