Jedi Knights Solve Gnats, 5-3
|
New Orleans right fielder Sergio Arredondo made his presence felt in the 5-3 Jedi Knights triumph over the Nichols Gnats. Arredondo went 3-4 with 3 singles. The win was George McCurry's in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Leon Contreras took the loss for Nichols. Juan Ayala closed the game out for New Orleans, earning his 3rd save.
Shigeaki Yoshida had a big 2-run single for the Jedi Knights in the bottom of the second inning. With New Orleans leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Leon Contreras and stroked the single to right. It was his 12th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Jedi Knights ahead, 3-0.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Yoshida told the New Orleans Daily News.
The Jedi Knights, now 5-1, have stormed out of the gates.
