Hornets Win at Tree City, 6-4
|
Fans at The Nut House were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Tree City Black Squirrels take on the Bethesda Hornets.
The Bethesda Hornets defeated the Tree City Black Squirrels, 6-4. Earning player of the game honors was center fielder Danny Lowe, who went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles. Bethesda starter Eric Sauer was credited with the win after throwing 123 pitches over 8 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Ricky Alvarado got credit for the save for Bethesda. It was his 2nd of the year.
Had Leonard Wright not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Wright hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Hornets.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Wright told the Bethesda Chronicle.
Bethesda, now 4-1, is setting the league on fire so far.
