Despite a great performance by St. Petersburg third baseman Jerry Mays, the Taos Blizzard defeated the Pelicans by the score of 7-6 at The Igloo. Mays was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Taos, now 3-0, has played well in the early going.

Tony Cervantes was the walk-off hero for Taos. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Blizzard catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

Cervantes described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
