Crowds lined up early in front of The Republic, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2034 SINGLE A season. On the mound was Eric Stark for the visiting Victoria Vikings and Jonathan Pickard for the hometown New Orleans Jedi Knights. In a spirited contest, the Jedi Knights pulled out the win, defeating the Vikings by the score of 7-6. Earning player of the game honors was Dave O'Donohue. Jonathan Pickard earned the win for New Orleans. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 5 earned runs on 8 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0. The save went to Juan Ayala, his 1st this season.
Shinji Kakuta aided the New Orleans cause with a 2-run double in the bottom of the second. For the game, the third baseman went 3-4 with 3 doubles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Kakuta said after the game.
