Nave Slugs Black Bears to 8-6 Win
|
Robby Nave made an impact in the 8-6 Fraser Valley win over Sandy Springs. Nave, who is tied for 2nd in the RHL in RBI with 118, was 3-5 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. The Black Bears bumped their record to 95-67 with this latest triumph.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Justin Ray came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Sandy Springs pitcher Jonathan Woodward, he hit a 2-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Fraser Valley on top, 7-6.
In postgame comments to the Fraser Valley Daily News, Nave said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
