Black Bears Win at Sandy Springs, 10-5
|
The Fraser Valley Black Bears racked up a win at The Coliseum, bumping off the Sandy Springs Spartans, 10-5. David Pena, who started for Fraser Valley, pitched effectively for his team. Pena, now 9-9, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. Jorge Rodríguez got the save, his 5th in 7 chances.
Fraser Valley relied on the hitting of Justin Ray to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Black Bears on top, 10-3. For the game, Ray had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"I liked his command," said Fraser Valley manager Casey Ramey. "David was throwing strikes."
The Black Bears bumped their record to 94-67 with this latest triumph.
