The Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats eked out a 2-1 win versus the Biloxi Bullets at Bloomfield Road. Nobody did more than pitcher Takeo Takano, who captured player of the game honors. Takano went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 15-6. The Beetlecats bumped their record to 82-78 with this latest triumph.
C.J. Devers swatted a run-scoring double for Buzzard's Bay in the bottom of the seventh. The first baseman went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 2.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Buzzard's Bay skipper Keith Irwin.
