Beavers Come Up Short at Vancouver
Vancouver and Portland duked it out at "The Fort" at B.C. Place and the Pioneers came out victorious.

The Vancouver Pioneers picked up a win at "The Fort" at B.C. Place, knocking off the Portland Beavers, 3-2. Starting pitcher Tony Velázquez played a key role in the triumph. The Pioneers saw their win-loss record go to 22-26. At the same time, the Beavers fell to 24-25.

Akio Ishii, who is tied for 2nd in the TML with a .614 slugging percentage, helped out the Vancouver cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the right fielder was 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.

"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Velázquez.
