Cincinnati got a terrific performance from pitcher Dave Milar, but it wasn't enough to beat the Topeka Predators. Topeka won the The Field at Richmond contest, 5-2. Milar was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. Dean Archer was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 15 of 18 save opportunities. The Predators' win now puts them at 70-81.
Had Josh Tatham not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Tatham hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Predators.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Topeka manager Dan Jones.
