Victory Pushes Wolverines Record to 88-61
|
Wichita right-hander Oscar Mata made an effective start against the Carson City Mustang at Howling Park, leading his team to a 5-3 win. Mata went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 4, and struck out 7. His record improves to 11-3. Shu-de Tian got the save, his 15th in 19 chances.
Francisco Enriquez had a big 2-run triple for the Wolverines in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Wichita leading 3-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a slider from Juan Cruz and stroked the triple to center. It was his 12th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Wolverines ahead, 5-0.
"This was a good win," said Enriquez.
The Wolverines bumped their record to 88-61 with this latest triumph.
