Corte Hits 2 home runs in Hops Win
The San Diego Hops bested the Eureka Hornets by a score of 13-5, with catcher Ricardo Corte getting the main credit. On the day, Corte went 3-3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4 for the Hops. San Diego reliever Jim Phillips picked up the win, upping his record to 3-6. Su-gyung Park shouldered the loss. The 'W' lifts San Diego's record to 18-32.

The Hops got a big at-bat from designated hitter Akira Kato. For the game, Kato went 1-5 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 5th home run of the season gave San Diego a 8-4 lead.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Corte.
