Spartans Fall Short at Pacifica
The inspired effort of Sandy Springs left fielder Jen-ta Zhong was not enough to prevent a 3-2 loss to the Pacifica Shamrocks. Zhong was 4-6 with a home run, a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win was credited to Jose Laracuente in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jonathan Woodward took the loss. The first-place Shamrocks, at 87-58, now lead their division by 10 games.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Eigo Matsuo came to bat in the bottom of the 14th. Facing Sandy Springs pitcher Jonathan Woodward, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Pacifica on top, 3-2.

"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Matsuo said.
