Cornhuskers Win at Youngstown, 10-4
|
The DeKalb Cornhuskers defeated the Youngstown Tune-Ups, 10-4. Earning player of the game honors was shortstop Seizo Tomita, who went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. DeKalb reliever Ronnie Kimble picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Ryan Davis absorbed the loss. DeKalb is now riding a 3-game win streak.
The Cornhuskers got a big at-bat from left fielder Matt McDade. For the game, McDade was 1 for 5 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 17th double of the season gave DeKalb a 2-0 lead.
"It was a solid team effort," said Tomita after the game.
