Ducks Win at Ruidoso, 7-4
|
With shortstop Jess Burhoe leading the charge, the Long Island Ducks defeated the Ruidoso Osos, 7-4, at Bear Cave. Burhoe was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Long Island reliever Dave Dyke got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Tommy Pucher was tagged with the loss. Takamasa Oki notched his 7th save in 7 chances.
Had Tim Parker not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Parker hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Ducks.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Burhoe told the Long Island Times.
Long Island has a 3-game win streak, while Ruidoso has lost 5 in a row.
