Monarchs Turn Back Cincinnati, 5-3
|
Cincinnati first baseman Phil Dick was sensational. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Marysville beat the Snaps, 5-3. Dick was named the player of the game despite the loss. Marysville reliever Walker Baldwin picked up the win, upping his record to 7-3. Alex Munoz absorbed the loss. Curt Woods, credited with the save, is now 2 for 7 in save opportunities.
Adrian Sparks went 1 for 3 with a walk for Marysville. The 22-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Alex Munoz. It was his 56th walk of the season.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Sparks said.
At 64-78, the Monarchs are currently 5th in the Cory Lidle League Gene Mauch Division.
