Jesus Chavez had a hand in Long Island defeating Phoenix by the score of 12-3. Chavez went 3 for 3 at the plate, scoring 2 times and driving in 2 runs. Yasukazu Kouda picked up the win, improving his season record to 14-8. He struck out 3 in 6.1 innings. The Ducks bumped their record to 77-65 with this latest triumph.

Benito Velez had a big 2-run double for the Ducks in the bottom of the second inning. With Long Island leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from Rennie Hill and stroked the double to left. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Ducks ahead, 3-0.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Chavez.
